I’m right handed. I just have the knives directly under a cabinet so placing the knives up is the most comfortable.

Interesting - I was referring to the blade direction. The way it’s oriented ( blade to the right) makes it more natural to grab a knife with your left hand. It’s a bone of contention with my wife, who is right handed.
